We frequently hear about foods and supplements that are important to promote a healthy gut but we rarely hear about the other simple things we can do to help! Here are my top three tips that you can do to help improve your gut health:
- Getting enough sleep is very important! A good night’s sleep is considered to be about 7 to 8 hours of sleep a night. Our healthy gut bacteria sleep when we sleep- they need sleep too! Our gut bacteria also help us sleep and regulate our circadian rhythm.
- Drink filtered water to stay hydrated and help eliminate toxins from the body. Filtered water is important as chlorine found in tap water isn’t well liked by our gut bacteria.
- Deep breathing helps to lower the stress hormone cortisol and helps us relax. Taking the time to relax is important as stress lowers our good bacteria levels and increases bad bacteria.
